President Nicușor Dan announced on Thursday on social media that he made a stop in the city of Cahul while heading to Chișinău on the occasion of the Independence Day of the Republic of Moldova.
During the visit, Nicușor Dan emphasized the rich history of the city and its "generous" community, which has "managed to preserve" the common Romanian values. He mentioned the close ties between Romania and the Republic of Moldova in the fields of education, culture, and economy, as well as in local community projects.
"In Cahul, we find connections between Romania and the Republic of Moldova in education, culture, economy, in local community projects, and, above all, in the relationships between people.", wrote Nicușor Dan on Facebook. Due to these factors, Nicușor Dan mentioned that Romania has financially contributed to the construction of a new headquarters for the "Bogdan Petriceicu Hașdeu" Theater and to the modernization of a dormitory of the University of Cahul.
The head of state also emphasized that he appreciates the efforts of local authorities, teachers, and entrepreneurs who support the development of the city and strengthen bilateral relations.
