President Nicușor Dan stated that Romania needs to develop institutions capable of attracting, retaining, and supporting high-level scientific talent in order to become an active contributor to technological progress. In a Facebook post, he highlighted the importance of essential fields such as artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and cybersecurity.
Nicușor Dan had a meeting with Prof. Maria Leptin, President of the European Research Council, discussing the future of European funding for research and innovation. He emphasized that research and innovation should be considered strategic investments for economic competitiveness and the strategic autonomy of Europe.
The European Research Council funds projects based on scientific excellence, and this principle must be maintained to harness the potential of research in Romania.
