Nicușor Dan had a meeting with Maria Leptin, the President of the European Research Council, to discuss the future of research in Romania. Nicușor Dan emphasized the importance of creating institutions capable of attracting and supporting top researchers, as well as the necessity for project funding to be based on scientific excellence.

During the meeting, the future of European funding for research and innovation was discussed, in the context of preparing the next Multiannual Financial Framework of the European Union. Nicușor Dan stated that Romania must treat research and innovation as strategic investments for economic competitiveness and the security of Europe. He highlighted that our country must become a production hub for technological progress in essential fields such as artificial intelligence and biotechnology.
