Nestlé Romania continued the 'Honey Forest' project by planting 10,000 acacia seedlings in Oltenița, Călărași County, with the support of nearly 200 volunteers. The project, launched in 2020, aims at forest regeneration and creating a favorable ecosystem for beekeeping, considering that acacia is an important honey-producing species.
So far, Nestlé has planted 120,000 trees, mostly acacias, in Romania, thus contributing to the reduction of CO2 emissions and promoting biodiversity. Oltenița was chosen due to the local community's openness to sustainability projects, and the acacia plantation will help absorb over 90 tons of CO2 annually. Nestlé collaborates with the Re-Autentic Association and the Oltenița City Hall to support environmental protection initiatives.
