Nadia Comăneci will be decorated today by Nicuşor Dan, 50 years after the Olympic Games in Montreal.

The great gymnast Nadia Comăneci will receive on Saturday, at the Cotroceni Palace, the National Order 'Star of Romania' in the rank of Grand Cross, from President Nicuşor Dan. This distinction marks the 50th anniversary of her performances at the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games, recognizing her exceptional contribution to the Olympic prestige of Romania. Nadia Comăneci redefined the limits of excellence in sports, becoming an emblem of national identity.

During the same ceremony, the president will confer the Order of Merit in Sports Class I to the Oneşti Municipal Sports Club, highlighting its impact on the training of young generations of champions and its influence on sports worldwide. Additionally, the year 2026 has been declared 'The Year of Nadia Comăneci' by a decree signed by the president.
