The General Mayor of Bucharest, Ciprian Ciucu, announced that he has submitted the proposal to rename Izvor Park to 'Nadia Comăneci' Park to the political groups of the general councilors, for it to be put to a vote in the General Council.
The initiative comes from the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee (COSR), which sent a letter to the City Hall, emphasizing the importance of this endeavor in the context of the 50th anniversary of the historic moment when Nadia Comăneci achieved the first perfect score of 10.00 at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal.
Mayor Ciucu highlighted the impact that Nadia Comăneci had on Romanian sports, stating that she has inspired generations of athletes and deserves to be honored in this way.
The proposal will be discussed within the General Council of Bucharest.
