In the third quarter of 2025, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) increased by 0.2% in the euro area and by 0.3% in the European Union, according to Eurostat data. Romania, Lithuania, Finland, and Ireland are the only EU member states with economic decline, with Romania reporting a decrease of 0.2%.
In contrast, Sweden had the highest growth, at 1.1%, followed by Cyprus and Poland. Compared to Q3 2024, GDP grew by 1.4% in the euro area and 1.6% in the EU. Additionally, the number of employees increased by 0.1% in the euro area and 0.2% in the EU. In Romania, GDP decreased by 0.2% compared to Q2 2025, but increased by 1.6% compared to Q3 2024. In the period from January to September 2025, Romania's economy grew by 0.8% compared to the previous year.
