The Minister of Transport, Ciprian Șerban, announced on Facebook the start of the modernization and expansion project of the water and sewage infrastructure in the Port of Constanța, an essential logistics hub for Romania at the Black Sea. The project, with a total value of 164,962,132.02 lei, is funded through the Transport Program 2021-2027, of which nearly 63 million lei comes from the European Union. The design activity began on January 24, 2026, and will last approximately 8 months.

The project includes the modernization of water networks, household and storm sewage, as well as the rehabilitation of pumping and treatment stations. Modern technical solutions will be implemented to improve water consumption efficiency, protect the environment, and increase fire safety. Ciprian Șerban emphasized the importance of this investment for compliance with European directives and for increasing the operational capacity of the Port of Constanța, thus strengthening its role as a strategic logistics hub in the region. This modernization is vital for supporting the economic development of the country.
