Mihai Fifor, PSD deputy, stated that the state budget for the current year will not be approved without the solidarity measures proposed by the social democrats, considering that these are essential for tens of thousands of Romanians affected by recent reforms.
Criticizing Ilie Bolojan, Fifor emphasized that Romanians are facing unbearable economic pressure, and the austerity measures applied indiscriminately have led to a general state of discontent. He highlighted that the policy of drastic cuts is not a viable solution and warned that the accumulated social tensions could generate a social explosion. Fifor insisted that the budget must include support for low-income pensioners and protection for vulnerable individuals, emphasizing that without social cohesion, the state becomes vulnerable. The leaders of the governing Coalition met to discuss the budget, and PSD announced that it will not vote without the adoption of the economic recovery package.
