Metrorex announces longer intervals between trains / Overcrowding and maintenance work affect operations

Metrorex announces that intervals between metro trains may increase during certain periods compared with the approved schedules, a situation already felt after the start of the school year. The company explains that the changes are caused by overcrowding, breakdowns, medical emergencies and other events beyond the operator’s control.

To maintain passenger mobility on Metro Line 2, Metrorex has placed Bombardier trains into service instead of some CAF trains, which are undergoing scheduled maintenance. The company states that this work cannot be brought forward or postponed, as it is scheduled according to safety requirements and standards imposed by the manufacturer and relevant authorities.

According to Metrorex, the interval between trains is adjusted on a case-by-case basis, depending on the situation on the ground and travel needs. The operator says it continuously monitors operations and takes measures to optimize transport capacity and reduce waiting times, while complying with safety, regularity and comfort requirements.
