The general mayor of Bucharest, Ciprian Ciucu, has made an urgent appeal to the parties in the governing coalition for the rapid adoption of the state budget, warning that the City Hall risks entering into insolvency in April. This situation is caused by a spike in payments related to obligations issued 20 years ago, which can no longer be refinanced.

Ciucu rejected claims that Bucharest disproportionately benefits from public funds, emphasizing that the city significantly contributes to the national budget, generating 35-40% of its revenues. He accused the government of mismanaging public finances, mentioning a deficit of 7 billion lei for Bucharest.

Additionally, the municipality's monthly revenues have decreased from 550 million to 350 million lei, further complicating the financial situation. Ciucu emphasized that the prepared administrative reforms will not be sufficient without an adopted budget.
