The Mayor of Bucharest, Ciprian Ciucu, stated that the workers who rehabilitated the Basarab Passage need to resume cleaning work due to graffiti vandalism, which appeared just before the completion of the repairs. The mayor emphasized that the City Hall is working on a feasibility study for the acquisition of a monitoring system with thousands of surveillance cameras to prevent such acts of vandalism in the future.

The Basarab Passage, which underwent repairs after 15 years of waiting, was subject to maintenance work from June to December. Ciprian Ciucu made an appeal to graffiti artists, inviting them to collaborate with the City Hall to identify locations where they can express their art in an organized manner, without vandalizing public or private buildings.
