The forest in the Băile Felix resort has become a site of massive logging, transforming from a relaxation space into a desolate landscape. The Bihor Forestry Directorate announces that approximately 670 trees, equivalent to 235 cubic meters of wood, will be cut down to clear the area of sick or dangerous trees. Although the forest appears healthy, specialists warn that many trees are dry or affected by pests.
Local residents' concerns focus on the possible cutting of healthy trees, and journalists have discovered fallen trunks that were not marked according to the law. The Forestry Guard intervened, suspending the work to verify the legality of the actions. The company responsible for the logging must clean the affected area and utilize the extracted wood, most of which is intended for sale as firewood. Although the authorities promise careful monitoring, local skepticism persists.
