A man from Prahova was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his pregnant partner, hitting her with an axe.

The Prahova Tribunal sentenced a man to life imprisonment for qualified murder after he killed his pregnant partner in June 2025, in the locality of Lipănești. The young woman, aged 22, refused to return to him, and the incident occurred in the context of previous conflicts. The defendant was ordered to pay 620,000 euros in moral damages to the civil plaintiffs. Throughout the relationship, there were calls to 112 for verbal conflicts, but the victim never requested a protection order.

The police confirmed that no criminal complaints had been registered, and previous interventions were treated as simple verbal conflicts. Following the murder, IJP Prahova launched an internal investigation to verify compliance with intervention procedures in cases of domestic violence.
