A 42-year-old man from Galați is being investigated for attempted murder after he intentionally hit his wife with a car on a pedestrian crossing.

On August 17, 2026, a 42-year-old man from Galați is being investigated for attempted murder after he intentionally hit his 37-year-old wife on a pedestrian crossing. The incident occurred on Oțelarilor Street, around 3:33 PM, following a pre-existing conflict between the two.

The man accelerated the car, hitting the woman and throwing her onto the roadway, after which he continued to drive, hitting a parked car. He later returned to the scene of the accident, where he was stopped by bystanders. A breathalyzer test showed a blood alcohol level of 0.57 mg/l, and the test for psychoactive substances was negative. The woman was transported to the hospital for medical care, and the police issued a temporary protection order against the husband, considering that there is an imminent risk to her. Investigations continue regarding domestic violence and attempted murder.
