A man has been definitively sentenced to 29 years and 4 months in prison for the rape of six girls, including his daughter, during the period 2016-2023.

Claudiu Hancheș, a man from Cugir, Alba County, has been definitively sentenced to 29 years and 4 months in prison by the Alba Iulia Court of Appeal for the rape and sexual assault of six girls aged 6, 8, and 9, one of whom was even his own daughter.

This case is considered the most serious rape case in Alba in the last decade. The acts took place between 2016 and 2023, and the case was kept secret due to the age of the victims. Hancheș was initially sentenced to 21 years in prison in 2024, but he appealed the decision, which led to a retrial of the case. After several appeals and a new sentence of 29 years in prison on April 25, 2025, the higher court confirmed the sentence on December 23, 2025.
