A man from Alba has been sent to trial for attempted murder after causing a serious traffic accident, injuring another driver.

A 36-year-old man from Cugir has been sent to trial for attempted murder after causing a traffic accident on December 28, 2025, in the locality of Vinerea, Alba County.

He, while driving a BMW and traveling at a speed of at least 100 km/h, chased another car, a Volkswagen Polo, and made a dangerous overtaking maneuver in the opposite lane, violently colliding with the victim's vehicle.

The impact led to the overturning and rolling of the vehicle driven by the injured person, who suffered minor bodily injuries. Following the incident, the defendant was detained for 24 hours and subsequently placed under house arrest.

The prosecutor requested the maintenance of preventive measures and the confiscation of the car used in the commission of the act. Investigations were carried out with the support of the local police.
