A man from Bihor, accused of having raped his daughter for seven years, has been released under judicial control. The Bihor Tribunal decided to release him, even though he fled the country after the report.

A man from Bihor, accused of having raped his own daughter for seven years, has been released.

The man was accused of having abused his daughter for seven years, starting when she was only 8 years old. After the victim ran away from home at 15 and alerted the authorities, the man was placed in preventive detention on April 7, 2023. The trial stagnated for almost two years, as he left the country immediately after the report. Returning in the spring of this year, he was detained and sent to trial for continuous rape and domestic violence. Although he was initially kept in preventive detention, the Bihor Tribunal decided on June 2 to release him under judicial control for 60 days, prohibiting him from communicating with the victim and leaving the country. The court emphasized that any violation of the measures could lead to his return to custody. The decision is final.
