The border police in Albița detained a man from Belarus, wanted for escaping from prison, at the border control.

At the Albița Border Crossing Point, border police detected a 36-year-old man, a Belarusian citizen, wanted by authorities after escaping from a prison in Belarus a day earlier, on January 8, 2026.

The man presented himself to enter Romania, and following checks, it was found that there was an Interpol alert for his arrest. After his apprehension, the man was handed over to the operational team of the Criminal Investigation Service of the Vaslui County Police Inspectorate to take the necessary legal measures.
