A 23-year-old man was detained by DIICOT Timișoara for human trafficking, being accused of sexually exploiting a victim using the 'loverboy' method.

A 23-year-old man was detained by DIICOT prosecutors in Timișoara in a human trafficking case, and he is to be presented to the judge with a proposal for preventive arrest for 30 days. The criminal activity was documented by the police officers of the Timișoara Organized Crime Fighting Brigade, the suspect already being incarcerated for another case.

Between September 2024 and January 2026, he allegedly exploited a vulnerable person, forcing her into prostitution after recruiting her using the 'loverboy' method. The man isolated the victim from her family and exercised control over her, compelling her to meet him in various locations where she was forced to engage in prostitution.

The victim suffered extreme violence, requiring medical care, but managed to escape the abusive environment. Although he was incarcerated for violating the protection order, the man continued to exert pressure on the victim, who continued to transfer money to him and bring him packages.
