A man known to local police in Bacău for begging while disguised as a nun was caught again, marking his 12th offense in the county. The individual was identified while asking passers-by for money, and the authorities fined him 200 lei.
The man wears a nun’s habit and claims, depending on the situation, that he comes from different monasteries. During his conversation with officers, he mentioned Agapia and Văratec, but his answers were contradictory. Local police said he changes the locations where he begs but keeps the same disguise.
In a recording published by the Bacău Local Police, the man admitted that the method was no longer as effective and that people “don’t really fall for it anymore.” Nevertheless, he told officers that on good days he manages to collect between 300 and 400 lei in donations.
This time, the individual collected 150 lei in one hour, but received a 200-lei fine. According to the authorities, the man has been identified for such acts in Bacău County since 2023, but continues to use the same method.
