A 33-year-old man was placed in preventive detention for 30 days after allegedly threatening a prosecutor and a judge with acts of violence during hearings held at two courts in Teleorman County. He is being investigated for judicial outrage and disrupting the solemnity of court proceedings.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Bucharest Court of Appeal, the first incident took place on October 13, 2026, during a hearing on a proposal for preventive detention filed in another case. The defendant allegedly repeatedly threatened the prosecutor who was arguing in favor of the proposal.
Three days later, on October 16, during a hearing concerning the issuance of a protection order, the man allegedly threatened the judge. His statements reportedly indicated that he intended to carry out the threats after his release.
In both cases, he allegedly continued to make threats and hurl insults, although police officers or gendarmes were present in the courtroom and the magistrates had warned him. His conduct disrupted the judicial proceedings.
The acts of judicial outrage were recorded as having been committed while he was a repeat offender following the completion of a previous sentence. During the first incident, the man was under house arrest in another case.
