LinkedIn has announced that, starting from November 3, it will use the public data of its users from the European Union and other regions to train generative artificial intelligence models. This includes information from profiles, posts, articles, responses, and resumes. The company, owned by Microsoft, will utilize the generative AI models provided by Azure OpenAI. Private messages and salary data will not be affected, and users can disable this option in the privacy settings. The policy is already implemented in the United States and will be expanded to the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Canada, and Hong Kong. Additionally, minors will not be affected by this usage. This practice is similar to that adopted by Meta, which uses users' public content for generative AI, with an opt-out option available.
