Meta, the company that owns Facebook and Instagram, has announced that it will expand the volume of data used to build personalized content feeds, integrating information about user activities outside of the two social networks.

This means that content streams will be influenced by data such as online purchases or preferred mobile games, collected from other companies. Meta emphasizes that it will not start collecting additional information, but will use the data it already receives to enhance user experience. Although the company had access to this information, until now it only used it for ad targeting.

Users will have the option to disable the use of this external data by accessing the settings menus of the platforms. The change will be implemented soon in various regions, including the European Union.
