Kelemen Hunor said that extending the mandate of President Klaus Iohannis is not possible because Romania's Constitution provides for a 5-year term, which can only be extended in case of war or catastrophe. He believes that the Constitutional Court should interpret these provisions. Hunor also ruled out the possibility of extending the mandate in case of a state of emergency, stressing that this would mean Romania's exit from the democratic world.
