The ISW analysis points out that a victory of George Simion in Romania's presidential elections could favor Russia, given his pro-Kremlin positions. Simion has called for an end to Romanian aid to Ukraine and expressed views that reflect Russian narratives about the territorial integrity of Ukraine and Moldova. He also threatened to break the defense cooperation treaty with Britain. Allegations of links to Russian intelligence remain unconfirmed, but ISW notes that Simion continues to support Romania's membership of NATO in the face of Russian threats.
