Irina Tănase, involved in the Murfatlar case and cleared of charges due to the statute of limitations, has been appointed chief of staff to the new head of Customs, Alexandru Bogdan Bălan.

Irina Tănase, former head of the Authorization Service in the General Directorate of Customs, has been appointed cabinet director for Alexandru Bogdan Bălan, the new head of Customs. Tănase was involved in the Murfatlar case, having been detained by the DNA in 2016 and later placed under house arrest. The charges were dismissed in 2023, despite the damage of 132 million euros caused by the involved group of companies. The appointment was formalized on September 22.
