According to prosecutors, Rusen and Georgescu are accused of having promised businessman Răzvan Leu that they would secure a loan from a bank in Switzerland, in exchange for depositing a guarantee of one million euros. The money was allegedly transferred, but the financing allegedly never materialized.
Rusen claims that he has been friends with Georgescu for more than ten years and that he was involved in raising funds for his campaign. The businessman has also been the subject of criminal complaints and other financial controversies, including a case in which Ioan Niculae claimed damages of 450,000 euros. The investigations are ongoing, and the accusations are to be established by investigators and the court.
