The European Public Prosecutor's Office and DNA have launched investigations into the purchase of trams from Astra Arad by the City Hall of Bucharest.

The investigations cover alleged corruption and abuse of office in connection with the tender won by Astra Arad Arad, as well as a forged letter of guarantee submitted by the company to access European funds. The case started from a complaint by the STB union, and the contract was signed in May 2021, for almost 850 million lei.
