Eight drivers and two security guards employed by the Bucharest Transport Company are being investigated by Bucharest police in a case concerning the theft of considerable quantities of fuel from buses. The investigation targets acts allegedly committed at the Ferentari Bus Depot between June 23 and September 30, 2026.

Police officers from the Public Transport Police Brigade carried out 10 searches in Bucharest, Ilfov and Giurgiu. The investigation began on August 27, 2026, after the authorities were notified about fuel disappearing from the tanks of buses belonging to a transport company in the capital.

According to the evidence gathered so far, several drivers employed by STB allegedly stole fuel at night or during working hours. Police say that, on August 4, one of the drivers allegedly benefited from the assistance of two security guards who were on duty.

The individuals concerned are being investigated for theft, while the investigation continues to establish the full extent of the criminal activity and the damage caused. The allegations will be examined in judicial proceedings.
