INS reported a decrease in industrial production in Romania in the first two months of 2026, compared to the same period in 2025. Production decreased by 2.6% in raw series and by 2.5% in adjusted series, being influenced by the decline in the manufacturing industry (-4.4%) and the extractive industry (-2.7%). In contrast, the production and supply of electricity, thermal energy, gas, hot water, and air conditioning increased by 7.6%.

In February 2026, industrial production increased by 9.3% compared to the previous month, due to the advance of the manufacturing industry (+14.5%), while the extractive industry and the energy sector recorded declines. Compared to February 2025, industrial production decreased by 1.8%, and the adjusted series was lower by 1.5%, highlighting a declining trend in the industry, with the exception of the energy sector.
