Botoșani County Hospital has purchased 600 beds for the obstetrics-gynecology department, but they cannot be used because they are 110 centimeters wide, while the doors of the wards measure only 104 centimeters.
Doctors have found that, in case of emergency, patients could not be evacuated safely due to the inappropriate dimensions of the beds. According to fire safety regulations, non-transportable patients must be evacuated through specially dimensioned pathways. Currently, the hospital is analyzing solutions, including redistributing some beds to other buildings where the dimensions allow their use. The hospital manager, Corneliu Perpeliță, emphasized that the beds will provide additional comfort to patients in the departments where they will be placed.
