Starting from August 10, Romania will open the first sections of highway this year, including 12 km of the Transylvania Highway and 45 km of the Moldova Highway.

Although these segments are completed, their inauguration is delayed due to the lack of necessary road junctions to connect to existing roads.

Radu Miruță, the interim Minister of Transport, explained that a section cannot be accepted without functional ends. Similarly, the section between Adjud and Răcăciuni on the Moldova Highway is ready, but remains closed until the completion of other works.

The authorities promise that by the end of the year, over 200 km of highways and express roads will be put into use, including 124 km of the Moldova Highway and 68 km of the Transylvania Highway.

However, the works on the Sibiu-Pitești highway are delayed, with completion estimated only in 2029 due to environmental issues. Until then, drivers are facing congestion on the Olt Valley.
