The Border Police discovered indoor cannabis cultivation in Ilfov

Following some searches carried out in Ilfov County, border police, coordinated by DIICOT prosecutors, discovered illegal cannabis crops. On May 26, 2026, a 47-year-old man was detained, and a 44-year-old woman was placed under judicial control for drug trafficking. The investigation revealed that the man had procured cannabis seeds from the Netherlands, bringing them into the country by post.

During the searches, 88 cannabis plants, approximately 22 kilograms of cannabis, equipment for maintaining the crop, fertilizers, and sums of money were seized. The judge for rights and freedoms at the Bucharest Tribunal was notified with the proposal for the preventive arrest of the man for 30 days. The action was supported by the gendarmes of the Special Intervention Brigade of the Gendarmerie.
