During a visit to Bihor County, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan was asked about the possibility of reintroducing mandatory military service. He stated that the subject was not discussed at the last CSAT meeting and emphasized that the Ministry of National Defense (MApN) has a volunteer program in the army, aimed at young people.

Bolojan mentioned that, starting this year, approximately 1,000-2,000 young people can access this volunteer program. In the context of global crises, several European countries are considering the reintroduction of mandatory military service, while Romania abandoned it in 2007.
