The mayor of Iași, Mihai Chirica, declared that the municipality has been accepted into the European UPPER program (UPPER's Replication Programme), funded by the European Union, which aims to strengthen public transport as an essential element of sustainable mobility. Thus, Iași becomes one of the ten European cities included in this program, committing to improve public transport systems.

The program is based on experiences from ten living labs in cities such as Valencia, Rome, and Oslo, which implement measures to reduce car usage and encourage public transport. Chirica emphasized the importance of modernizing vehicles and streamlining services to integrate public transport into a green and smart city.
