The High Court of Cassation and Justice (ICCJ) decided on Thursday to maintain the preventive arrest of the mercenary Horațiu Potra, involved in attempts to carry out actions against the constitutional order. In contrast, his son, Dorian Potra, and his grandson, Alexandru Potra, were placed under judicial control for 60 days, after their appeals were accepted. The three were arrested in November 2025, being accused of violating the regime of weapons and ammunition, as well as of subversive actions. The court established strict obligations for Dorian and Alexandru, including a ban on leaving the country and wearing a monitoring device. Horațiu Potra, caught in Dubai, was brought back to the country in November 2025, being accused of coordinating a paramilitary group and planning violent actions to destabilize Romania. Prosecutors argue that their actions endangered national security, creating a state of danger for the constitutional order.
