Horațiu Potra, arrested preventively on charges of coordinating a paramilitary group intended to divert protests after the cancellation of the 2024 elections, has obtained a change in his detention regime. The Court of Sector 5 has accepted his appeal against the previous decision of the prison administration, which classified him under maximum security.
This classification involves strict detention conditions, such as a reduced number of cellmates and additional restrictions. Potra requested the court to be treated like other inmates, and after experiencing health issues in the courtroom, the judges decided to lift the maximum security regime. Additionally, Potra has submitted a new request for release from preventive detention, which will be examined by the court as part of the ongoing judicial procedures.
