Approximately 600 soldiers from Serbia, Italy, Romania, and Turkey are participating in the first NATO-Serbia joint military exercise, taking place at the Borovac training ground in Serbia, from May 9 to 23. This exercise represents a historic cooperation, occurring less than 30 years after NATO's bombings of the Serbian capital. The training scenarios are inspired by real peacekeeping missions, aimed at strengthening cooperation with Serbia and regional stability.

The exercise also includes observers from other countries, including France, Germany, and the USA. The Serbian Ministry of Defense has emphasized the importance of cooperation for maintaining peace. Although Serbia is not a NATO member, its participation in exercises with the Alliance is regular, and this exercise is significant in the context of past tense relations. Serbia maintains a policy of military neutrality, balancing its relations with NATO and Russia, and has invested in strengthening its military capabilities over the last decade.
