Hanwha Aerospace, a South Korean company, will begin construction of an armored vehicle factory in Petrești, Dâmbovița County, in the first quarter of 2026, according to the announcement by the Minister of Economy, Radu Miruță. He is on an official visit to South Korea, where he is participating in the ADEX 2025 exhibition. The delivery of 54 K9 self-propelled howitzers and 36 K10 support vehicles is scheduled to start in 2027. Discussions during the visit focused on expanding cooperation in the defense industry, including local production in Romania.

Minister Miruță emphasized the importance of ensuring an efficient commercial offer for the Romanian Army and the positive impact of these partnerships on the local economy. Clarifications regarding the contract with Hanwha Aerospace and meetings with other South Korean companies for possible partnerships were also discussed. This visit highlights Romania's role as a strategic partner in attracting industrial and technological investments.
