The police in the municipality of Vulcan, located in the Jiu Valley, Hunedoara County, dismantled a group of seven individuals, including a minor, suspected of repeatedly stealing cables and equipment from the Vulcan mine. The thieves posed as miners sent by the management of the unit and operated at night to avoid attracting attention, gaining access by climbing over fences and forcing the locking systems of warehouses and mechanical workshops.

The estimated damage amounts to approximately 40,000 lei, and their actions also caused technical malfunctions that led to a temporary halt of mining activities. Following searches conducted in Vulcan, Petroșani, and Timișoara, six individuals were detained for 24 hours, and stolen goods and equipment were recovered in approximately 50% of the cases, with the case being processed for aggravated theft.
