Seven people are suspected of stealing approximately 1,500 meters of electrical cables from a photovoltaic park in the commune of Corbii Mari, Dâmbovița County, to recover and sell the copper. One of the suspects was placed under judicial supervision on Thursday, October 29, after being detained for 24 hours.

The investigation began at the start of the summer, when representatives of the photovoltaic park reported the disappearance of several hundred meters of cables. Police investigations indicated that the theft may have been committed by seven people seeking to sell the copper from the electrical installations.

In August, investigators conducted searches at homes in the town of Răcari and in the communes of Braniștea, Conțești, and Mătăsaru. More than 421,000 lei and approximately two tons of copper were discovered.

Police say the suspects may also be involved in similar thefts committed in Ilfov and Giurgiu counties. The investigation continues to establish the full extent of the criminal activity and the damage caused.
