The president of PSD, Sorin Grindeanu, announced that the party will decide on April 20 whether it will continue to remain in power or will remove Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan. Sources from PSD claim that Grindeanu would be willing to give up the position of prime minister, which would return to him in 2027, if PNL agrees to replace Bolojan.
At the same time, PSD is negotiating with USR, offering them several ministries to convince them to withdraw their support for Bolojan. Felix Cozma from PSD emphasized that there are many internal discussions, while USR deputy Cezar Drăgoescu denied that there are negotiations for ministries, considering that these are just a "smokescreen".
Prime Minister Bolojan stated that he does not have the "energy" to manage the attacks from PSD and that he is preparing for a possible governmental crisis. He does not rule out the formation of a minority government with the support of AUR, but acknowledges the associated risks. On April 20, PSD will debate three scenarios: opposition, replacing Bolojan, or continuing the government. Grindeanu emphasized that reconfiguring the Coalition is not a personal matter, but a necessity to ensure the stability of the government.
