The President of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), Sorin Grindeanu, stated on Wednesday, after the PSD Bucharest-Ilfov regional meeting, that almost all social-democratic members who spoke requested that the party leave the governing Coalition and enter the Opposition. Grindeanu stated that, after the vote on April 20, the PSD will no longer remain in its current form.

During the meeting, the PSD leader presented the situation of the government and the self-assessment of the ministers, followed by discussions about possible scenarios for the future of the party. He emphasized that, by the end of the meeting, the majority of those present requested a transition to the Opposition, with the exception of the mayor of Buzău, Constantin Toma, who opposed this decision. Grindeanu mentioned that Toma is a "bolojenist" in the party, referring to his differing position from the rest of the members.
