Sorin Grindeanu, the interim president of the PSD, reaffirmed on Tuesday that the appointment of Oana Gheorghiu as deputy prime minister is not a beneficial thing, citing his previous critical statements regarding the Trump administration. Grindeanu emphasized that there are enough anti-American voices in the Government and expressed concern that Oana Gheorghiu's arrival could affect relations with the strategic partner, the United States.
He mentioned that, although he respects Oana Gheorghiu's achievements at her foundation, he believes that her attitude towards American officials is not suitable for a government position. Grindeanu added that his concerns are related to possible deviations of the coalition, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a stable majority without co-opting extremist parties.
