The president of AUR, George Simion, reacted vehemently to the request of Sorin Grindeanu, the interim president of PSD, to withdraw the nomination of Oana Gheorghiu for the position of deputy prime minister, arguing that this could compromise the relationship with the United States. Simion claims that the real threats to the relationship with the US come from Grindeanu and other PSD members, accusing Grindeanu of involvement in the cancellation of elections.

In a TikTok clip, Simion called Grindeanu "pathetic" and emphasized that he has followed orders throughout his career. He also mentioned the controversy surrounding Grindeanu's travels on planes paid for by the Nordis company, suggesting that he lacks dignity. Simion concluded that PSD and Grindeanu deserve to be taxed by Romanians for their actions.
