The icon 'Mother of God with Child', created by Nicolae Grigorescu in his youth, was sold at the Christmas Auction at Artmark for a record sum of 90,000 euros, having a starting price of 18,000 euros. This work is considered rare due to its non-canonical representation of saints, Grigorescu having a personalized style inspired by real models. The year 2025 was a successful one for religious art auctions, and the December auction ranked second in volume, with a bidding rate of 71%.

Grigorescu's name thus becomes associated with the highest prices obtained for his works, including icons. The Artmark Winter Auction will take place on December 16, presenting other valuable works by the artist. The public can visit the Artmark galleries to admire these works before the auction.
