On Thursday, the Government decided to dismiss Adrian-Teodor Picoiu from his position as prefect of Constanța County after he failed to provide proof that he had completed the specialized training program for prefects and deputy prefects within the statutory two-year deadline.
Adrian-Teodor Picoiu was appointed prefect of Constanța County on October 2, 2024, through a Government decision published in the Official Gazette. Under the law, he was required to complete the program organized by the National Institute of Administration (INA) within no more than two years of his appointment.
The Executive said that, by the statutory deadline, Picoiu had not provided proof of completing the course. Under these circumstances, the Government adopted the decision ending his mandate.
Picoiu had previously announced that his dismissal was related to the completion of two years since his appointment and to the fact that he had not attended the INA program. He said that the end of his mandate was determined by legal provisions.
After his dismissal, the duties of the prefect of Constanța County are to be taken over by Deputy Prefect Ali Șenol. Picoiu held the position for two years.
