A 27-year-old gendarme from the Capital Gendarmerie is being investigated criminally after a 16-year-old minor reported that she was raped in his home on the night of January 3, 2026. The incident was reported via a call to 112, and authorities intervened at the scene, where the teenager stated that she was sexually assaulted by the gendarme. It appears that the act occurred against the backdrop of excessive alcohol consumption. The gendarme, employed since 2018 and declared psychologically fit, is now the subject of a criminal investigation taken over by the Military Prosecutor's Office, and the leadership of the Gendarmerie has initiated a disciplinary investigation. Prosecutors will decide whether the gendarme will be detained or will continue to be investigated at liberty, depending on the available evidence.
