The Romanian “Healthcare Solidarity” Federation (FSSR) is calling on the new Government to begin drafting a pay law for the public sector as soon as possible, with the participation of healthcare employees. Union representatives warn that the purchasing power of salaries in the system has already fallen by more than 16%, while the governing program provides for the drafting of the new law only in 2027.
The request will be made on Friday, in Bistrița, during the conference “Pay in Healthcare: From Inequities and Delays to Solutions.” The FSSR says the meeting could mark the beginning of the consultations promised by the Government with representative trade unions and employees in the sector.
The governing program provides for a unified and equitable pay law focused on correcting inequities, clarifying pay scales and allowances, and protecting salary rights. However, the federation complains that there is no specific timetable for healthcare employees until 2027.
Union representatives also recall the criteria outlined by Health Minister Alexandru Rogobete: no healthcare income should decrease, on-call shifts should be paid at the level of the salary currently in effect, and the reform should be discussed with professionals. The FSSR says it will present solutions and calculations for these objectives and is inviting the health and labor ministers to the conference.
